The things we must do to stay alive
The times we have to fail to know our worth
The lies we just say only show us off
The conflict is always between you and me
The paths we tread are never in our minds
They lie hidden, cowering in our hearts
And hearts that cannot forgive or believe,
Are of those who can never fulfill their dreams
We have done so much together,
That saying goodbye now will be not any better
There are a thousand ways to calm the waves
Yet leaving now is not the way
Yes, you and I may go our separate ways
But think of our feeble hearts
Sometimes they do lead us astray
I promise you if the storm gets thickest
Maybe we can have opposing ways
But as long, as long as both of us are alive,
And strong, and meek, and humble,
Then, we will: you will have to stay
Of all the things that have given me courage,
It was you who pushed me through each day.
And so I persist; do not go.
